Step-by-step Description of Play Guitar
The following CD summary provides an overview of all the interactive
content on the Play Guitar CD. It shows all the main sections, the
basic topics and gives a clear indication of what anyone can expect
to find - with amazing sound clips in all sections. This shows how
easy it is to learn if you can hear the example.

- Positioning of hands
Sounds so simple doesn't it! But if you get it wrong, you'll struggle
for hours. The close-up photos aid technique development and the actual
program has both pictures and graphic layout to make the learning
process as easy as possible.

- Chords
The main dictionary has 1260 chords! The chords all offer 3 voicings
(or ways to play the same chord) It also offers a comprehensive barre
chord chart and a dedicated section to inversions as well as power
chords. All the chords can be heard by simply clicking on the chord's
diagram. This means you can hear the chord shape (voicing) before
learning how to play it, thus avoiding wasting time on learning a
chord that might not be relevant to the song you're working with.

- Chord Construction
We have a detailed section on how chords are built and how they relate
to the major scale. It explains what terms such as "dominant"
mean. It also shows how suspended chords are built (sus2 & sus4),

4 - Exotic Scales
For the more advanced guitarist who wants that little extra that few
tuition aids offer, we've included 12 "exotic" scales, such
as Japanese, Hungarian, Arabian, etc…

5 - Pentex
Instead of learning a solo that can really only be used for one song,
we've decided to offer some practical exercises that can be applied
to ANY song or style of music. This, combined with the 9 styles of
back-up tracks, make an excellent tool to practice our improvising
skills. This way we equip ourselves with the necessary skills and
techniques that all professional guitarists use when composing the
solos we'd all like to play.

6 - Scalefinder
Here is a revolutionary tool for any guitarist that likes improvising.
It lists all the Western scales and shows them in both "block"
and "3 note-per-string" positions. Not only this, but it
also transposes them ALL into any key you require. You can also request
a scale such as D# Phrygian for example and the program will tell
you you're in the key of Bmajor, that its relative minor is G#min,
and align ALL the other scales right from the blues to harmonic minors,
pentatonics and melodic minors to tie in with the key you have selected.
On top of that you can also change the fret positions of ANY of the
scales and the program will again
align itself to the correct key.
And to wrap it up, it also offers 14 chords in the key you've selected
for jamming purposes, there is a detailed section that explains this,
as well as back-up tracks and the built in guitar tuner.

7 - Phrygian
Each of the scales are laid out in diagram format for easy reading
and accurate voicing ! We've also shown each scale in "block
position" or "3 note per string position". This gives
us the maximum option to explore our fret board.

8 - Mode Theory
The program has a detailed theory section to the modes; transposing,
how to build major scales, how to improvise (solo), chord theory,
the circle of 5ths, inversions, modes in each key, and much more.
This means we're not just a practical "how to play" program,
but also a detailed theoretical one that explains why and how music
works.
